Samantha Jones

Samantha first started practicing Hatha Yoga in 2002 and has never looked back. Yoga has influenced and transformed Samantha’s life in more ways than she could have ever imagined. Yoga heals, nourishes, and challenges one to do things never dreamed possible. It opens one up to a deeper level of understanding and allows the shifting of stored imbalances, whether one is aware of it or not.

After many years of practicing in different disciplines and attending various workshops (including Iyengar, Kundalini, Ashtanga, and Bikram), Samantha decided it was time to take her practice to the next level. She joined her beloved yoga teachers on their annual trip to Rishikesh, India, in 2008. After a month spent at an Ashram partaking in daily meditation and yoga practice, Samantha knew that this was something she wanted to do forever. Samantha enrolled in Christine Withiel’s two-hundred-hour Yoga Alliance course offered at the Jivananda Centre in her hometown of Durban, South Africa. After completing the course in August 2009, Samantha began teaching various classes throughout Durban.

Samantha’s classes follow the traditional Hatha Yoga structure incorporating pranayama (breathing), asanas (physical postures), and relaxation, and she likes to incorporate different styles and vinyasas (sun salutation flows). Samantha feels privileged to be able to share the beautiful gift of yoga, and is available to teach group or private classes.
