Izumi

Izumi was born and grew up in and around Tokyo, but also spent a few years of her childhood in Seoul, Korea, where her eyes were opened to a world outside of Japan.

After graduating university, Izumi went traveling around the world to try to find herself. Although she didn’t feel then like she found herself, she met a lot of warm and kind people in various countries. She received their help and learned many things from them. Now Izumi feels it is time to pass their kindness on to others.

Izumi started studying belly dance in 2003. Around the same time, she became interested in yoga. She had the opportunity to take Emil Wendel‘s workshop in Tokyo and was deeply touched by the experience. Since then Izumi started to focus on pranayama and meditation. On this path, she got deeper and deeper into yoga.

Traveling to India to study traditional yoga in March-May 2008, Izumi completed a program of teacher training recognized by the government of India at Yoga Vidya Gurekul, an ashram located about 180 km from Mumbai, just outside the city of Nasik.

Izumi loves to share the joy and peace that she has found through yoga. Her sincere wish is that we will grow together. Izumi’s objective is LOHAS (a Lifestyle Of Health And Sustainability) by living in an ecologically – sustainable way – in other words, a natural life.

Izumi says:
Lha is the Tibetan word for the goodness of our innate, fundamental nature.

Because we live in a busy, modern society, many of us forget this Lha and live our lives full of stress. I believe that it is very important to remember that we have an innate, fundamental good nature, and that’s why I named my yoga class “Lha”.

Let’s have a relaxing time and observe ourselves through yoga. We will find that we are not really the people that we seem to be when we are occupied by stress. When we relax, we find that there is a lot of love, kindness, compassion, and appreciation inside of ourselves, always. We may remember that lha is inside ourselves, and we may discover more and more inside of ourselves. It is fun to get to know yourself and grow. I would love to share the joy of this moment with you, though yoga.
