Yotsuya Community Hall


Yotsuya Community Hall, 87 Naitomachi, Shinjuku-ku, TokyoThis municipal government-run hall has Japanese style tatami mat rooms. The tatami mats give a relaxed Japanese ambiance and are ideal for yoga in that they provides extra cushioning.

Quite a number of yoga teachers use this facility to hold classes and workshops because it is located within walking distance of Shinjuku Station, the city’s most active train terminus. There also is no shortage of places to go after class for a cup of tea or bite to eat.

Directions

  1. Come out of Shinjuku-gyoenmae Station’s Exit #2. The road you are facing is called Shinjuku-Dori.
  2. Turn left and walk past a Lawson convenience store on your left.
  3. Keep walking until you reach Shinjuku 1-Chome Intersection.
  4. Yotsuya Community Hall is diagonally across the intersection.
  5. In the lobby will be an information board with the classes for the day. Yoga classes are usually held in either a meeting room on the 11th floor or a tatami room on the 12th floor.
