Prana Power


Founded in 2005 by Naomi Hoshina, the first Japanese national to receive Yoga Alliance certification, this friendly neighborhood yoga studio is host to classes, workshops, lectures and yoga teacher training courses by some of the world’s top yoga teachers, experts on Ayurveda (traditional Indian health care methods), and other health modalities such as the Alexander Method. A variety of yoga styles are offered, including Power Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and Iyengar Yoga.

Facilities

  • Shower: not available (please bring change of clothes)
  • Changing: changing room for women only, men must change in toilets
  • Yoga mats: available for rent (300 Yen)
  • Equipment: yoga blocks, bolsters, straps and blankets available for use free of charge
  • Capacity: 20 students per standard yoga class, can hold 25 when to maximum capacity

  • 5 minutes walk from JR Ebisu Station (Rinkai, Saikyo, Shonan-Shinjuku and Yamanote lines) East Exit
  • 6 minutes walk from Tokyo Metro Ebisu Station (Hibiya Line) Exit #1
  • 8 minutes walk from Tokyo Metro Hiroo Station (Hibiya Line) Exit #2

Directions


From JR Ebisu Station East Exit:

  1. Walk out of the exit’s ticket gates. and go straight ahead.
  2. Take the escalator on your left.
  3. Turn right before Starbucks and take the steps down to the street.
  4. Walk past Sunkus convenience store on your left.
  5. Walk past Pronto restaurant and Tully’s Coffee on your right.
  6. Keep walking straight through the intersection.
  7. You will pass another Sunkus convenience store on your left.
  8. Take the little path on your left, immediately after the Sunkus convenience store.
  9. The path is black asphalt, passes between two office buildings, and takes you to a small street.
  10. Turn right and go straight.
  11. You will pass “Sala Andaluza” Spanish restaurant on your left.
  12. On your right, you will pass a big brown building with no windows– it’s actually a Buddhist temple
  13. You will see a red brick apartment building on your left and opposite it should be signs for “Magic Room” cafe, propped-up against a fence at the corner of the entrance to a little street to your right.
  14. Go down the little street, follow it to turn left, and you will see a new white building with a brightly lit art book shop on the ground floor.
  15. Opposite the art bookshop is a little black gate with a green “Prana” logo on it and a little wooden sign for Prana next to it.
  16. Go through the gate and down the stairs.
  17. The Prana Power studio is at the far end of the small courtyard.
  18. Please wait outside if a class is in session and take your shoes off before entering.
